The Gracie Invitational is the biggest cometition in the Uk,The second biggest in Europe,
Held at the SENI Martial Arts Exhibition over 2 days in front of 25 thousand people
the pressure & prestige for the fighters is huge,
Day 1 Saturday is where the Juniors,
White & blue belts show their stuff, In his first competition Dale "DCB" Jones who only
turned 14 3 weeks earlier Took home a BRONZE medal for his efforts Sweeping his opponent from the guard,
taking his back with the hooks in for a text book rear naked choke in the Bronze medal fight, Also in the Junior divisions
William Henly & Anthony Warby both picked up SILVER medals also fighting their first ever competitions
performed admirably Anthony losing to a Judo Brown belt by a single point finishing the fight in a dominant position
looking for a submission, William who at white belt had to fight a blue belt
lost a very close decision and fought well beyond his experience, Daniel Jones & Clint Jones also fighting their
first ever competitions lost points decisions in their Quarter Final Matches just short of the medals,
Blue belt Mark Warby the last of the fighters making their competition debut took an excellent SILVER in the HeavyWeight Senior division,
Oliver bruh leading on points with just 3 seconds to go was disqualified for an illegal submission confusing the NoGi rules
with the more traditional JiuJitsu rules, Oliver a previous BRONZE medalist at this competition could have gone on to do really well
but unfortunately will have to wait for next year, 17 year old Daniel Strauss was the last of the RGA Mill Hill fighters
to fight on Saturday, Submitting 2 of his 3 opponents walked away with another GOLD medal in the Blue Belt featherweight division
The first fight was a difficult affair with his opponent trying not to be submitted rather than actually trying to win the fight,
Continually stalled the contest which daniel ran out a big points winner, Daniel then submitted his next opponent with an armbar after
rushing out straight away and attacking immediately with his fast attacking style just overwhelming him,
Daniel then went on to secure the GOLD medal using his fast attacking style of JiuJitsu
caught his opponent with an inverted triangle choke again showing his dominance,
Day 2 Sunday is where the Purple & Brown belts show their stuff Nick Brooks Jointly
took GOLD in the Brown belt featherweight division with Cesar Lima Instructor of the RGA Vie Academy,
After both secured victory's in their semi final matches, In a very slow paced fight Nick pulled guard and
attacked repeatedly with chokes & armbars to win by referee's decision, Being more agressive throughout secured the victory,
Next up was the team event The Battle of the Brands, Daniel Strauss was chosen to represent team Vangaard,
The format is 5 fighters under 85kg 2 blue belts, 2 purple belts & 1 Brown or Black belt,
Daniel won his first fight against team Manto by rear naked choke in another fast paced fight,
before losing 4 - 2 on points against the fighter from team Black Eagle in an excellent technical fight
which helped team Vangaard win the SILVER medal,
Finally the Annual EFN European Fight Network awards where Danial Strauss was voted fighter of the Year
nobody came close to the results Danial had achieved in the last 12 months the highlight being
his GOLD medal in the World NoGi JiuJitsu championships in LA last december
