Hal, Daniel & Lubo fighting the HGFC
Mill Hill Ju-Jitsu Club representatives Hal Bent, Lubomir Repasky & Daniel Strauss
Stepped onto the mat to test themselves, And came away with 4 trophies between them,
Hal (74kg) & Lubomir (78kg) fought in the Middleweight division Under 81kg,
Both came top of their pools wining all their fights, Lubomir showing good guard skills
to sweep and control all his opponents and didn’t concede 1 point in any of his divisional fights,
Hal also showing extremely sharp guard skills in sweeping and controlling all his opponents and
demonstrating lightening quick arm bars from the guard for submission finishes,
Hal also did’nt concede any points in any of his divisional fights, Hal still getting over
the flu and feeling physically drained lost in the semi final to a mma fighter
from Royce Gracie Academy by refs decision, after Overtime the fighters still
could not be separated with the score 0-0, In a really good fight by 2 skilful grapplers,
Hal took home the BRONZE medal, Lubomir went onto the final after winning his semi and
secured the Gold after an impressive display of technique and tactics to control his
opponent winning the final 1-0 for the GOLD medal, Lubomir then entered the open weight
class category, And in the first fight swept the lightweight Gold medallist mounted and
choked for the win, In the semi he defeated the Under 91kg Gold medallist by referee’s
decision in an extremely close contest, And in the final (His 8th fight of the day)
Lost 5-0 to a 90kg shoot fighter who was having only his 2nd fight of the day,
Still it was a non stop affair with both fighters showing excellent technique and skill,
Lubomir added the SILVER medal to divisional GOLD, Next up was Daniel (The KID) who
unfortunately had no division to fight in as the junior division was cancelled as
he was the only entrant, Daniel decided to fight in the intermediate division
(Under 19 years) up to 71kg, Even though Daniel is only 14 and only weighs 58kg,
Daniel in his 1st fight swept his opponent mounted and arm barred in
lightening fashion then followed this up with a Kimura for a quick victory,
In his next fight Daniel twice swept his opponent with a roque mounted
and controlled his opponent for the points victory, Daniel won 2 of his 3
fights and secured the SILVER medal, When you consider he was outweighed
by as much as 13kg by his much older opponents his performance on the day
was incredible, Daniel then Entered the Adult lightweight division
(under 36 years up to 71kg) and Unbelievably was the only fighter to
defeat the GOLD medallist in a fight that will be talked about for a
long long time, Just to step onto the mat and face off against opponent
after opponent who are older, more experienced, heavier, stronger and
more muscular deserves respect but to beat them as well Awesome!
The competition was run like clockwork the organisation of the whole
event was faultless and the refereeing was of the highest level,
