Chris met Nick Brooks at a small traditional class in Mill Hill. Both enjoying ground fighting they discovered Brazilian jiu jitsu and was some what introduced to BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) by Joao Santos (brown belt under Robin Gracie) and studied with him for a short amount of time, while he lived in London. But when Joao decided to move back to Portugal they were stuck without and instructor. That's when they heard of the new Roger Gracie Academy opening up in February 2004. They decided to make the trip there for the opening day. Chris became a Roger Gracie Student on that day.
Chris then decided he might like to try competing and entered the Londinium international BJJ championship and lost his first two fights to two very good fighter's, one going on to win the whole tournament. He then competed at the London Open BJJ tournament a few months later after submitting two fighters he won his first GOLD medal. "Bitten by the bug" as it were Chris travelled to Portugal to compete in the European open BJJ Tournament after receiving his blue belt from Roger Gracie. Losing in the second round. Later that year Chris competed in the Gracie Invitational European Championships Winning his first fight strategically on points and closing out the division with team mate Leo Aguilar after they decided they were not going to fight each other and decided to showcase there skill for the audience. Chris then went on to take SILVER in Hereford BJJ competition fighting out of his weight class in the lightweight division. He then took SILVER in the Stoke Submission Wrestling tournament Closing the whole division with Old Friend Joao Santos and Dan Strauss. Then went on to take SILVER in the Copa Betteti in London Later that year.
Chris then Decided to take sometime off of competing and concentrate on his teaching skill's and was running his own BJJ club for about two and half years helping Nick bring up a few good students all competing themselves now. Shortly after was promoted to purple belt And is now back training and teaching at Mill Hill BJJ with Nick Brooks..
